Stories of Change

At Verto Living, we believe the most powerful way to understand the difference we make is to hear directly from the people we support. These real stories, shared with permission, highlight the journeys our residents have taken — the challenges they’ve faced, the progress they’ve made, and the new opportunities they’ve embraced. Every experience is unique, but all show the importance of safe housing, personalised support, and believing that change is possible.

  • I moved into Verto Living in Dec 2024, on my arrival my self esteem was very low and didn’t feel I had any direction. However, today I know where I want to be. I’ve been provided my own self-contained flat to move into, my self esteem is now 100%. The support I’ve been given by Verto Living has been outstanding and would not of got here today without it. Also the people that have been placed in the house have also made me feel confident again. Thank you Verto Living.

  • "Since I have been with Verto Living I have engaged with CGL and completed all of the courses and now live a clean free life. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for Verto Living and all the support I have received. Without the support I don’t know where I would be today. I now also have contact with my children and grandchildren. Thank you Verto Living, to believe in myself and to move forward in my life.

  • I came to Verto Living in April 2024 fleeing domestic violence. The staff were the only way I was able to live. The staff make sure you have the tools to make sure the transition is as calm and supported as possible. I struggled with emotions, and with Kyla’s (Michaela) help, I’m slowly curbing this issue. We are supported in every way now and I have made small steps of progress which I am so grateful for. I am still working towards my goals but I couldn’t get there without the Verto Staff. Kyla supports doctor’s & hospital appointments. She encourages us to walk & exercise, she’s always looking for things or places for us to go or do. There isn’t anything we can’t ask for. Her advice is professional and tailored. Kyla has been for me amazing, given me the strength and the tools to live a normal life one day. Emotionally everyday is different for me, Kyla and the Verto Staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone is ok and has what they need. I unfortunately have a long way to go but Verto Staff haven’t given up once. They support no matter what the situation.

  • I moved into a Verto Living property in April 2025, I was exploited for financial gain previously. Since moving in I have had constant intense therapy and supported everyday! My alcohol addiction has slowly petered out and I am more understanding due to the guidance of Kyla (Michaela). She is there for me in any situation to guide me towards learning basic cooking skills so now I am able to cook and contribute to the house. I have learnt basic cleaning and hygiene. The support I get from my support network is second to none! I have made small steps, in general I am much happier and able to do mad more than before. Kyla also makes sure my medication is sorted each week and reminds me to take them. She encourages me to go out but always keep in touch or feel I can ask for help at any time.
